Volkswagen Paint Shop Summer Internship 2024: Job Description
Our internships are full-time positions requiring 40 hours per week. Candidates must be available during standard business hours (Monday – Friday), though specific hours may vary by position and some roles may necessitate Saturday work. To qualify for the internship program, candidates must be enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution or have graduated within six months prior to the internship start date. Those who do not meet this criterion will not be considered. The internship will commence in May and conclude in August 2024, with the possibility of extension until December 2024. Volkswagen Paint Shop Summer Internship 2024: Responsibilities
- Oversee projects within an automotive manufacturing setting, particularly in the Paint Shop, ensuring alignment with company objectives and surpassing set goals.
- Contribute to the conceptualization and pre-planning of new and series products, including investment planning.
- Develop specifications for both new and existing manufacturing equipment and tooling.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of equipment, from development and design to installation, commissioning, and handover to Series Production.
- Provide support in process and product development, facilitating continuous improvement activities to enhance production efficiency.
Volkswagen Paint Shop Summer Internship 2024: Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in paint shop operations.
- Familiarity with sealer/adhesive application systems.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and automation.
- Experience with MicroStation and/or Catia software.
- Proficiency in 3D printing.
- Understanding of ergonomic assist techniques.
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing principles, capital project implementation, fixture development, vendor management, CAD software, layout design, process development, and proficiency in additional languages.
Required:
- Enrolled in or recently graduated with an Engineering Degree.
- Mechanical or Electrical experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
